Can an AI agent post and reply on X?
Short answer. Yes, through AgentWeb. As of Oct 22, 2026, the X map (version 0.1.0) gives your agent 13 actions on the user's own X account: 7 that act (post, reply, delete, like, unlike, repost, undo repost) and 6 that read first (the home timeline, a post, its replies, an account, its posts). One honest caveat from the map itself: X often refuses
create_postfrom an API client with an authorization error (code 226), even while replies from the same session go through. When that happens, your agent gets the error back instead of a silent failure.
Map: X (x.com) · version 0.1.0 · 13 actions · Uses the person's own signed-in account
What your agent can do on X
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
create_post | Publishes a new standalone post. X often refuses this from API clients (error code 226). Replies usually still work. |
reply_post | Replies to a post. Public and immediate. |
delete_post | Permanently deletes one of the account's own posts or replies. Irreversible. |
add_like | Likes a post. Public, and it notifies the author. |
remove_like | Removes a like. |
create_repost | Reposts someone's post to the account's followers. |
remove_repost | Undoes a repost. |
What your agent can read first
| Action | What it returns |
|---|---|
list_home_timeline | Read the signed-in account's home feed, newest first, the chronological 'Following' timeline, not the ranked 'For you' one. |
get_post | Read one post by id, its full text, author, timestamp and engagement counts. |
list_post_replies | Read the replies under one post, the conversation thread, ranked by X's relevance. |
get_user | Look up one account by its @handle. |
list_my_posts | Read the signed-in account's own posts, newest first, with their current like/reply/repost/view counts. |
list_user_posts | Read another account's posts, newest first, with engagement counts, use it to watch a competitor, a customer or a journalist. |
How the login works
The person signs in once on X through AgentWeb's hosted login, started with agentweb_start_connection and confirmed with agentweb_poll_connection. Your agent never sees the password. Actions then run on that person's own account, and they can disconnect at any time.

-d '{"domain":"x.com","action":"get_user","params":{"handle":"<handle>"}}'
Parameter names shown are illustrative. Your agent gets the exact schema for every action from AgentWeb's list_actions tool.
What it does not cover yet
- Posting images or video is not mapped.

Frequently asked questions
Why might create_post fail?
X often refuses new standalone posts from API clients with an authorization error (code 226, or 344 phrased as a daily limit), even while replies from the same session succeed. The map documents this, and your agent gets the error back so it can tell the user and offer a reply instead.
Should my agent read the thread before replying?
Yes. list_post_replies returns the conversation under a post, so the agent doesn't repeat what others already said.
What does it cost?
Each completed action costs $0.05, paid from prepaid blocks of $25, $50 or $100 that never expire. Failed actions are refunded.
Which AI tools can use it?
Any agent that speaks MCP or HTTP. Add https://mcp.agentweb.us/mcp as a remote MCP server in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex or Grok, or call the REST endpoint directly.
