# Can an AI agent send LinkedIn connection requests?

By Andrey Marey, Founder of AgentWeb · As of Oct 22, 2026

> **Short answer.** Yes. AgentWeb's `send_connection_request` sends a connection invitation from the user's own LinkedIn account using the recipient's profile URN. It is real and immediate, and it counts against the member's weekly invite quota. As of Oct 20, 2026, it attaches no note.

## What it does

Sends a connection invitation. The person is notified, and it counts against the member's weekly invite quota.

## What your agent needs

- The recipient's profile URN, from `search_people_at_company`, `list_people_at_company` or `search_people`.

## What comes back

The new invitation's URN.

## Using it safely

- Agree a weekly number with the user that stays well inside LinkedIn's invite quota.
- Send one at a time, paced like a person.
- To answer invitations you received, use `list_invitations` with `approve_invitation` or `reject_invitation`.

## Try it

This sends a real request from the connected account. Get the person's approval first.

```bash
curl -s https://mcp.agentweb.us/api/execute \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $AGENTWEB_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: linkedin-send_connection_request-1" \
  -d '{"domain":"linkedin.com","action":"send_connection_request","params":{"recipient_profile_urn":"urn:li:fsd_profile:<id>"}}'
```

Parameter names shown are illustrative. Your agent gets the exact schema for every action from AgentWeb's `list_actions` tool.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I add a personal note to the request?

Not yet. The action takes only the recipient's profile URN, and no note is attached. A common pattern is to connect first, then send a message with `start_conversation` once they accept.

### What does it cost?

Each completed action costs $0.05, paid from prepaid blocks of $25, $50 or $100 that never expire. Failed actions are refunded.

### Which AI tools can use it?

Any agent that speaks MCP or HTTP. Add `https://mcp.agentweb.us/mcp` as a remote MCP server in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex or Grok, or call the REST endpoint directly.
