# How do I let my iMessage agent book a restaurant table?

> **Short answer.** Connect your agent to AgentWeb and use the SevenRooms or DesignMyNight maps. When a user texts "table for 4 on Friday at 8", your agent checks the venue's real availability, confirms the slot with the user, then calls `book_reservation` (SevenRooms) or `book_table` (DesignMyNight). That's a real booking in the diner's name. Each completed action costs $0.05, and failed actions are refunded.

## Steps

1. Connect your agent to AgentWeb over MCP (`https://mcp.agentweb.us/mcp`) or REST, with an `aw_` API key.
2. Work out the venue and the platform it books through, and call `list_actions` for that domain.
3. **SevenRooms:** call `get_venue` and `get_available_dates`, then `search_availability` for the time slots at your party size. Only slots of type `book` can be booked online.
4. **DesignMyNight:** call `find_venue`, then `get_party_sizes`, `get_booking_types` and `get_time_slots`.
5. Text the user the best options and wait for a choice and a yes.
6. Book. On SevenRooms, call `create_hold` on the chosen slot and then `book_reservation` within the hold's five minutes. On DesignMyNight, call `book_table`.
7. Reply with the confirmed details. On SevenRooms, the venue also emails the guest.

## Good habits

- Never book without an explicit yes on the venue, the date, the time and the party size.
- Check the party size limits first. Asking for more people than the venue allows online is the most common rejection.
- On SevenRooms, slots that need a card, carry a charge or are request-only can't be booked through the map yet, so offer another time.
- To cancel on SevenRooms, use `cancel_reservation`, after confirming with the user. It can't be undone.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the diner need an account?
No. Both SevenRooms `book_reservation` and DesignMyNight `book_table` book as a guest, in the diner's name, with no login. On SevenRooms, connecting the diner's account also lets the agent list their existing reservations.

### What about OpenTable?
As of Oct 20, 2026, AgentWeb can find OpenTable tables and lock a slot, but not complete the booking. Use SevenRooms or DesignMyNight venues for end-to-end bookings.
